Is it recommended to use two computers to edit/publish a survey with Connect?

At work, I have a desktop computer onsite and laptop computer at home for remote work.

On the laptop, I created a complex survey with Survey123 Connect. I have about 150 users, and the survey is used 24/7. I also have many csv files in the media folder as well as some JavaScript in the scripts folder.

Using Connect, I discovered that I can download, edit, and publish the survey with my desktop computer. Recently, after a long vacation, I needed to update the survey and couldn't remember which computer I had used to publish the last version of the survey. After reviewing the modification dates of the XLSForm and a csv file, I determined that the last version was published from my laptop.

On my desktop computer, the icon for the survey indicated that no update was available, the Download menu item was disabled.

Solution:

While writing this post, I realized that I wasn't logged into Survey123 Connect on using on my desktop computer. Once I logged in, I was able to update/download the survey on my desktop computer.

I was almost going to cancel this post, but I want to say that I wish it was more obvious that I wasn't logged in. That would have saved a lot of time. When not logged, there's an Update button that seems to imply that I'm logged in. There could be some red text saying Not Logged In.

Should this be improved? Do many survey authors edit/publish surveys using Connect on more than one computer?

I also wish that I had version control for XLSForms and that there could be more than one author, but those are different topics.

EDIT: I see you have the solution.

So to this point:

I want to say that I wish it was more obvious that I wasn't logged in

Good news! It can be. You just need to configure it in the S123 web Site and Portal:

My Connect is red when I log in, because that is my company color:

Thanks for your response. I was on another vacation when your message came in.

I turned on "Use Organization's Shared Theme" but when I login, the color for Connect doesn't change. I think that this means that we don't have a custom company color. I will ask a co-worker about that. Or, do you happen to know where that setting is? Thanks.

We just updated the shared theme colors and now I immediately know when I'm logged in or out of Survey123 Connect. Thanks for your help!
