Best method/workflow for swapped credentials

Originally, multiple surveys were created with different accounts. We realized that if someone was out/leaves, only the creator can make edits/updates to the form(s). Thus, we created a global account for future surveys. We changed one of the credentials to the global account but the file/folder (Survey-xxxxx) in AGOL is missing and the form & feature layer is in the root directory. The form still works but I tried to make a small update (ie, update the thumbnail icon), but couldn't republish/timed out because the Survey folder in AGOL is missing. I know Survey123 is pretty particular with its file structure.

What possible solution(s) for this situation? Would we need to download the previous survey's data & photos as FGDB and create a new survey and append the previous data? There are several surveys that need to moved to the global account. Your ideas/suggestion are much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Aldous,

Yes, you should be able move the form item and feature service from one owner to another, and then open the survey in Connect to make changes and republish.

Select the 2 items to move in the survey folder in AGOL, select Change Owner and then select the new owner username, create a new folder in their content folder. Make sure you name the new folder the same as the original folder from previous owner. Move the two items into this new owner's folder for that survey.

The survey and feature service should still work in the field app provided the permissions and sharing settings have not changed, and the ItemID is the same for both the survey and feature service. You can then open the survey in Connect, by signing in as the new owner in Connect, downloading the survey (select the cloud), make required changes and republish. I suggest you create a test survey in one user account, move it to another user, and test you can open it and it is working as expected before you try it on your real survey.

Alternatively, if the above does not work and you can not edit the survey, but the feature service still exists and is accessible to new owner, the other way you could create a new survey that points to the same original feature service would be to use the submission url option. If you have the xlsx file from the originally published survey, create a new survey from xlsx file and then update settings sheet to point it at the original feature service using the submission url. Either of the above methods should work to change the owner or create a new survey with same settings under new owner.
