Setting a Custom Extent for a Map Tour

Hello! I am designing a simple StoryMap for my company to showcase key projects spanning the United States and Pacific. I created a 2D map tour from scratch and have started adding projects. To best highlight our projects, I would like the map to be centered over the Pacific Ocean and zoomed to crop out Europe, Africa, and most of Asia. However, it keeps defaulting to the entire world centered on Europe/Africa, which pushes all of our projects to the side of the frame.

Is there any way to set a custom extent? I only see a few "Custom" extents that don't seem to actually affect the layout (world, continent, countries - large, etc.).

I also noticed that if I exclude the project I added in Guam, it will zoom to fit the other projects in the continental U.S./Hawai'i. I also tried the 3D map and it does the same thing - only one of the points I added is even visible.

I appreciate any insights or suggestions to help get this looking better!

@RebeccaNDiaz - Thanks for posting your question about map tour. The initial extent of a tour is automatically set to the full extent of all tour places (in 3D tours, this is not always possible depending on the geographic distribution of tour places around the globe). There is currently no way to override this.

The "Custom" option in the tour map settings is a zoom level, not an extent. It controls the initial zoom level used for each place after readers scroll past the initial tour view and start viewing individual places. This zoom level can be overridden for individual places in the location editor. We recognize this setting can be difficult to understand and are looking at ways to clarify it.

I would recommend voting for the idea linked below if you would like to see the ability to customize the initial tour view added in a future update. Also, be sure please add your specific use cases and challenges to the idea thread so we can best understand how this feature will be valuable. Including screenshots of what you see with your tour points vs. what you want/expect can be very helpful.
