There are some instances where a footnote would work better for the flow of the story. For example, in this story "Decolonizing the Diet" https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/b12a12719e364ae8b9242657dfedc8b0, which was a group project may have benefited from the ability to include footnotes. Additionally, for Stories that include qualitative surveys or references that need just a little more information than the regular parenthetical citation, a footnote would be great.
