Plotting to LRS using two different start and end route IDs

Hi all,

I am trying to create a single polyline on our LRS where the start point is on one Track (one route ID) and the end point is on another track (a different route ID). This is common when we are taking a track out of service and use bounds from one signal to another that might have traveled over a turnout.

My thought was to say that IF RouteFROM is NOT EQUAL to RouteTO, THEN plot StartPoint, THEN plot EndPoint....From here connect the two points using the path of least resistance and snap to closest track centerlines. This might not always work when the turnouts are on the middle express tracks...

@KaylaSadallah Interesting use case - a picture will help explain the scenario.

Have you modelled LRS with Line Network ? This type of network supports events that span routes on the same line as below.

There are additional considerations on modelling Line Network

• Maintains measure across routes with discontinuities in measure and restrict change in measures downstream of the affected area.
• Model events that span routes.
• Route editing across routes that belong to the same line.
• Model and maintain derived network ID and derived measures on Event records. Persisting these attributes help with reporting and quick lookup of continuous measures.
