I have a lot aerial imagery, where the X; Y; Z & OPK was recorded in PCS EPSG 23700 and VCS EPSG 5787. Today it is impossible to process these images, while it runs perfectly in ArcGIS Pro's Reality mapping workspace. It says the coordinate system transformation is unavailable to WGS84/EGM2008. Yes, it is true, but who needs it it if every data and the GCPs are referenced in the given coordinate system? I suppose, the the problem is coming from the Globe or from the footprint generation, but in this case you can ask for a DEM (like in Reality mapping workspace in Pro).
Thank you & Best regards,
Ákos Halmai
Thanks Ákos for reporting this! It is interesting to me that this works for you in ArcGIS Pro and not in Reality Studio. I will have to check with the development team to see what we are doing different here and why we are not supporting this transformation yet (or why we need the transformation to begin with). I will report here once I get an answer...
After aligning with the development team I can confirm that what you are seeing is currently expected. The globe within Reality Studio is set up to use WGS84/EGM2008 and data being added to the project needs to have such transformation so that it can be visualized correctly.
As you correctly pointed out, ArcGIS Pro is able to handle your data and it should be possible to bring the required changes also to Reality Studio. At the moment though, this is a bit further back in the backlog as it will require some fundamental changes and rework. Unfortunately it is therefore also hard to predict how soon we will be able to address this.
Hi @ÁkosHalmai - I'm happy to share a positive update with you! With ArcGIS Reality Studio 2024.2 we changed the way data is handled when displaying it on the globe, which enabled that we can support a wider range of projects.
As a result of this change, we expect that ArcGIS Reality Studio can now handle any data that is stored in any CRS supported by the ArcGIS Pro coordinate systems library.
If you require support for coordinate reference systems that are not yet available within ArcGIS Pro, it would make sense to reach out to your distributor who can then trigger the internal processes for looking into this.
