Hi
Like survey123 get the deviceID , can Quickcapture get the deviceID or IMEI or any id thad will be unique for each cellphone?
regards
Solved! Go to Solution.
QuickCapture supports the installUUID variable. This can be used in place of the device ID.
It is a UUID value generated on installation.
Hi Marco
As devices that lack cellular connections do not have IMEI and iOS does not allow access to the IMEI, Survey123 generates a unique ID for the deviceid property (see: DeviceID Property in Survey123 : property('deviceid') ). deviceid is not supported in QuickCapture, but I would like to hear your use case.
Could you share a bit more on how you are using the device ID?
Thanks
John
Hi
in many countries the theft of cell phones is common and many times the people who are users are not in the same city or state, so if we keep a record as Survey123 does with the DeviceID, it helps us to keep a statistic of how many times user changes device
Hi Marco
Just as an FYI, the deviceID will be recalculated if the app is uninstalled and installed again on iOS or Android 10 (or later). This could give you a false count.
If the app version is just updated, then the deviceid will be preserved and there will be no issue.
I'll get you requirements added to our internal repo.
Thanks for the feedback
John
