Offline Map Configuration

Following the documentation here, I have not been able to get an offline map to work in the app.

There are two ways that custom offline maps can be configured for use by the app: an offline map can be associated with the project in the web designer by the author, or the Esri default offline map on the device can be replaced by the app user.

I created an MMPK referencing online content in ArcPro and published it. I then associated it with the QC project in the web designer. The map loads when connected to wifi or data, but if the app is opened when the device is offline, nothing loads. When this didn't work, I downloaded the MMPK and tried replacing the esri_default basemap on my iPhone. I opened Quick Capture when offline and it still did not load anything. I am not sure if this is something that I am doing wrong, or a bigger configuration issue because the esri default basemap load has never loaded for me as long as I have been using QC (3 years).

I am working in Enterprise 11.5 (just upgraded from 11.3 over the weekend) on iOS.

Hi James — a couple of things to check:

1) Esri default (green) map behavior
To validate this flow end‑to‑end:

  1. Uninstall the app, then do a fresh install.
  2. Download a project that uses a web map as its map.
  3. Open the project offline.
  4. You should see a message that the map failed to load.
  5. Tap USE DEFAULT — you should then see the Esri default (green) map.

2) MMPK with online layers
If your MMPK references online web layers, you must be online when opening the map to load those layers.

Could you confirm:

  • Does your MMPK include any offline tiles (TPK/TPKX/VTPK) or offline feature layers?
  • What specific layers are packaged in the MMPK (basemap, feature layers, rasters, elevation, etc.)?

This will help us determine whether the behavior you’re seeing is expected or if we need to adjust packaging or connectivity assumptions.

Thanks!
