Hello all,

Complete beginner here.  Any help or pointers very welcome.

I've trying to create a DEM for the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the UK (I know I can download extant DEMs!).

I've downloaded the OS Open Zoomstack (Geopackage), and added a contour layer to my map.

Questions:

  • I don't seem to be able to select a rectangle of contours - is this possible, or will the full extent of each contour always be selected?
  • When I use Topo to Raster to create a DEM on any selection of contour data I get the error ERROR 010092: Invalid output extent.  If I run T2R on the whole contour layer it works (but takes 4 hours and melts my laptop).

I've Googled and spent over an hour looking and experimenting but can't make progress.

Thanks for your help!

You could clip the contours to suit your extent

Thanks for this, Dan.

The contour data is vector, so clipping seems to select either contour vectors that are wholly contained with the area specified, or else the entire extent of the vector beyond the area specified. This latter effect creates a spaghetti mess of a selection, rather than a neat box.

If it is vector, then use
