Can you symbolize using Allow symbol property connections from a feature attribute in a Joined or Related table? We have tried numerous combinations of feature classes and standalone tables, but with no joy.
(ArcGIS Pro 2.6.2) A solution...the issue was that only the Arcade expression is available initially...follow the steps to set the feature for colouring in symbol properties...then go back to the tickbox Allow symbol property connections (Symbology - Legend green polygons) and select the expression option (green cross in a box) Visual Basic is now a choice...select Visual Basic and viola it works beautifully.
