Scale Bar does not link to my map frame

When I go to Scale Bar in the Scale Bar Properties, it says "none". I am not sure how to change my project to automatically link my map frame to my scale bar to make the scale bar suit my map and project. How could I fix this problem?

Hi @EshaVisram, in your layout, do you have a map frame? If so, you should see the map frame in the drop-down menu.

No, my map frame does not show up in the drop down options. Only “None” appears and I do have a 3d map open and I used that for the map frame. Could it be that I removed the original base maps that were in the project?

I see, so you have local or global scene and not a flat map.

You can't include a scale bar in a 3D map as scale is continuous and will change across a 3D view.
