Question regarding Processing Extents

Hi,

I have a question regarding processing extents, so I'm using processing extents to process a specific area. I use a specific layer as the extents. When I run the process, the model will process shapes that are outside of the specified layer extents. Is this common? Is there a way to rectify this?

There is a image attached that should show what I mean.
(The layer used as the processing extent is the green layer)

Not all tools honor the processing extent.  The environments are listed at the bottom of each tool in the help file.  You will need to check the specifics of each tool.
