I’m in the market for a new computer that can efficiently handle large GIS databases in ArcGIS Pro, as well as process LiDAR datasets and other large spatial datasets. I'm looking for recommendations for:
1. A system optimized for ArcGIS Pro – Needs to smoothly handle large geodatabases, spatial analysis, and 3D rendering.
2. A system for LiDAR processing – Capable of handling intensive point cloud processing in software like LAStools, Terrasolid, or Global Mapper.
Key specs I’m considering:
High-performance CPU
Ample RAM
Dedicated GPU
Fast storage
If you’re running similar workflows, I’d love to hear what setups work best for you! Any insights on balancing cost vs. performance would be great. I have looked at the ArcGIS Pro system requirements page but I would like to hear from folks who are actively using computers that they like. Thanks in advance!
Hello @GISUSER6 ,
I saw your question about hardware recommendations while doing my own research, and I wanted to share some updated insights that might help, especially when handling large geodatabases and intensive point cloud workflows.
First, I always recommend reviewing the ArcGIS Pro 3.7 system requirements documentation for the most up-to-date insights.
Below is a summary of the minimum and optional hardware specs I would recommend for LiDAR data processing in ArcGIS Pro:
CPU (Processing)
RAM (Memory)
GPU (Graphics Card)
Storage
I hope this information helps!
