Greetings

I am searching for a tool which could easily allow me to cut polygons "with" lines, as I am making a map where habitats of particular animal are overlapping roads and I don't want that as I need to merge the polygons later on and I want to avoid making it a blob. Doing it manually is out of the question as there is about 300 polygons and twice as much roads.

Hello,

I would buffer the roads with a very small distance or the distance you think is appropriate for the roads and then use the pairwise erase tool?

Or try this tool:

You can use the Split edit tool to split features with other features.

Here, I'm splitting 4 polygons by 3 polylines:

Result:

This changes the polygon feature class, be sure to backup your data!

Have a great day!
