Hello,
I have drawn a line in a specified state plane coordinate system map and feature class. Now I would like to label/report the ground distance and azimuth of this line. Is there a stock geoprocessing tool for calculating grid to ground distances and directions?
Thank you.
Tyler
I'm not seeing a ground distance parameter in that tool. Am I missing something? Thx. Tyler
It seems you drew the line in state plane coordinate system; the Shape_Length of the line should be the ground distance. Otherwise, I am not sure what you meant by ground distance.
The line is in Grid Distance (ie. State Plane Coordinates). I need to report back ground distance or what we would actually measure on the ground.
I could calculate it, but it's safer to use a tool that's been developed and QC'd. I'm just not seeing any tools at first glance.
I checked with our 3d team member. He said:
"The Add Surface Information tool has a Surface Length option. If the input geometry is already 3D the Add Z Information tool has a 3D Length option."

Thx. I'll look into these. Tyler
