I ran the enable feature binning tool on a SQL Feature Class and see in the layer properties that Feature Binning is enabled.

However when I click on the layer with Feature Binning Layer enabled in the Contents Tab,   Binning is disabled

The data is in a 2D Map, but the message when hovering over "Binning",   a message says it Binning is Currently Disabled.  Bins cannot be displayed for layers in the 3D layers category

What am I missing here?

Thanks

Mele

Simon,

You might start by taking a look at this to see if your data is supported.

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/data-management/enable-feature-binning.htm

After struggling with this for quite a while,  I contacted ESRI support and they provided this bit of useful information.

What I did was to run the 'Enable Feature Binning Tool' on the point Feature Class in the Catalog View rather than in the Contents pane.     After binning was enabled,  I dropped the Feature Class onto a map and the binning tab visible and was enabled.

This also come from Support and might be of use.

One other caveat was that I needed to change my projection based on this "An equal area projection for your data is strongly recommended"

Here are a few additional reference web-links:-

+1

  • Have enabled feature binning plus cache in Azure SQL (not a geodatabase)
  • Layer properties says its enabled
  • However, unlike your screenshot, I don't even get the greyed out icon.  Nothing.
