“Drag\drop feature class in ArcGIS Pro,
I couldn’t figure out why the drag\drop of feature classes is not working in ArcGIS Pro
Thank you
Best
Jamal
Hi Jamal, I found this possible answer on a similar thread:
"Can you confirm that you added a map to a project? If the only context menu option that is available to you is the "Add to New Map" option, then you either don't have a map in your project, or a map is present but not open. On the Insert tab on the ribbon, click New Map. This will add a new map to the project and open it. Then you can drag/drop a feature class to a map, or right-click it and click "Add to Current Map".
Many thanks for the answer.
I have created a blank project and then tried to drag drop a feature class from “H” geodatabase which appears not to work (as shown in the screenshots below).
In ArcMap, one can drag\drop right away.
Right, I see that you have created a project, but have you added a map to it? You won't be able to drag and drop feature classes unless you have a map in your project. Try selecting New Map on the Insert tab.
Jamal:
I see you still don't bother to read the most basic things about anything you try and use the forum to have other people read the help for you. Making the faulty assumption that a Pro project operates identically to an MXD map shows you have not bothered to look at even the most basic information about Pro.
Many thank sephefox and Sisak for the help. This is very late but found out that I never answered this post!
You need an extra step in Pro -> Insert map. When you insert a map you can drag and drop contents to the maps Contents pane.
