Hello! I'm trying to add a table to my layout with a custom header, so it can have slightly different names from the associated fields.
Right now, I have the "true" headers set to transparent, and a text box with the custom headers in its place. The problem is I need the table to resize with its contents, and the text box doesn't move to match the proportions of the table. I've attached a photo of the table as it's supposed to look, and another of the table with the text misaligned.
Is there a way to make the text box travel with the table, i.e. remain locked to its top border? Failing that, is there any other way to put custom headers on the table?
Thank you!
If I understand what you want, you can change the field names Alias name (what you see) in Fields View.
Click the hamburger in the top right corner of the Table and select Fields View, edit and save the alias name. There is also a toggle switch at the top of the menu that enables showing the actual field name as stored in the table or show its alias.
@JonahCrooks Editing the Input Table's field aliases is the way to go but you can also group items in the Layout.
If you edit the aliases of a dataset in the map, the alias will be saved in the project only and other instances of Pro will see the original field name & alias when they open the data.
If you edit the alias from within Catalog, with data not open in the Project, the alias change will be permanent and saved in the dataset. Permanent changes can confuse others down the track as they may see the alias and think they're looking at a new or wrong dataset, so make sure you use the right method for your situation.
When you group other items with a Table in a Layout make sure to set the auto scaling, origin point, etc so that the table grows/changes as data changes are accommodated for.
Group = Select the Table and the Text Box, Right-click > Group
