Hello,

I'm using Pro 2.8. I see these help docs https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/help/data/geocoding/create-a-feature-locator.htm  but I need more information.

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/tool-reference/geocoding/create-feature-locator.htm

I'm creating an .mmpk with feature locators. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/help/data/geocoding/share-a-locator.htm

What do the optional parameters mean - is there more of a write up than this below?

In the Locator Properties - Geocoding options - what does this mean if I check Feature in Categories to support?

Can you name the locators so they show up in the .mmpk? The below screen shot is from the .mmpk opened in Windows ArcGIS Explorer on my desktop computer. Right now the search results list them 1, 2, 3, etc. This isn't very helpful. I'm also not sure where this search for Pole is coming from - it's not one of my locators?

@KoryKramer hate to bug you again but you're always so helpful! Let me know if you have any thoughts. Thank you all!

-Andrea

If you click on Python table of the Parameters table and scroll to the Additional Parameters description their are links to other topics about how rank is used for sorting the results and the extents are used for displaying or zooming to the geocode result. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.8/tool-reference/geocoding/create-feature-locator.htm

Locators created with the Create Feature Locator tool only support two categories, Feature and Coordinate System. If you only check Feature, then no results are returned if you searched for XY, MGRS, or USNG coordiantes. See https://prodev.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/geocoding/tips-for-improving-geocoding-quality.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_1CC5777CE25A4D048FCC518AEC549DC6 for more details about Categories to support in Geocoding options.

What were the names of the locators you created with the Create Feature locator tool?

Did your map also include any layers that had fields configured for search?

What are you expecting to see in the results list? If there are additional attributes associated with these points you could use the POI role to create a locator with the Create Locator tool and add up to 50 custom output fields that would show in the result.

@ShanaBritt

Thank you so much! Your hint and link about "your map also include any layers that had fields configured for search" is what got me to the answer I needed. I didn't have to create feature locators at all!

Your other links were also very helpful and I read through all of them.

Thanks a bunch!!

@Anonymous User Glad I was able to help. You should check out the Enhanced search mode that allows you to use complex searches and use wild cards. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/2.9/help/data/geocoding/enhanced-search-syntax.htm

@Anonymous User were there any links that helped you resolve this? I am having similar issues, and the workflow that I have found for "enabling fields configured for search" are all referring to Web Maps.

@Anonymous User Thanks for the link. I was having issues finding the Provider Settings in Options. I found a work around for using Feature Locators. I created Feature locators for the layers necessary in the map, and then added them all to a composite locator for the mmpk. The Create mmpk tool accepted multi Feature Locators and Composite Locator, but only returned results when the Feature Locators were combined to one Composite Locator.
