I'm trying to create custom 3D point symbols using .3ds files, and publish the style as a web style and use them in a web scene.

I created a new style in Pro project, and created a new point symbol in the style. After that, in the point symbol's Properties pane, I imported the .3ds file (Properties - Layers tab - Appearance. Layer is set to be 3D model marker type).

However, I wasn't sure if the 3ds file was imported properly or used anywhere, since the symbol thumbnail did not get updated with the 3ds file, and when I use the published style & symbol in my web scene, the symbol is still the default point symbol.

Any clues?

We ran into the same situation trying to create a Custom 3D Model Mark for Point Symbology. I do not have access to 3DS Max, but we tried COLLADA, OpenFlight, and Wavefront with the same results as you - nothing upon adding the 3D shape to a style.

Sorry, I do not have an answer, but after three days of trying to get it to work, I am not giving up.
