Confusion with adding SQL Database layers to ArcGIS Pro

I have recently upgraded to ArcGIS Pro from ArcMap and I am having problems withe ArcGIS Pro not updating the location/tables of layers derived from a linked Database.

In ArcMap I was able to add the database table to the map, select 'display x, y data' and it would appear in the map. Every time I updated the location in the database, it would eventually update in the map.

However

ArcGIS Pro seems to create a copy or snapshot of this table as a featureclass and will never update the changes made in the database. The database in the catalogue view updates, so does the table added to the map, but not the layer viewed in the map. Am I missing something? Is there another way of linking the coordinates of a layer to a database?

btw I am not necessarily looking for the map view to write to the database, but just to read updates.

Solved it, It appears that in ArcGIS Pro you need to use the Make XY Event Layer tool to have a synchronous read only layer.
