If I have a layer in geographic coordinates, and right-click an ArcGIS-provided Shape_geometry field, the Calculate Geometry tool is grayed out. ...I understand why.
However, if I choose to access the tool from Toolbox, I can proceed in completing the dialog box. In fact, there is an option to calculate in "geodesic mode". ...Simply being curious, I tried and received Error 130091, Field is not editable.
Can someone explain what's technically going on here?
