I am just beginning to migrate from ArcMap to ArcPro. I am creating a new map layout and for the life of me I can't add a raster image to my layout. Everytime I add it, it does not show up. What I am I missing?
what is the format?
is it a 'picture'? Add and modify graphics and text—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop
or is it in a map and you want to add the map to a map frame?
It is a raster (.sid) of an entire county, I like to have the whole county because I need different scales for different maps. Very frustrating that it is so difficult to add a raster. In ArcMap when is was added it appeared in both the data & layout view.
An additional question, how do you add basemaps to a layout?
a *sid isn't a 'picture', so you want to add a mapframe to your layout that contains the map with the sid in it.
Same procedure for a basemap, add a map to the layout, the map has the basemap in it
How do you add a map to a layout?
Begin with
Add a layout to your project—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop
then just follow the help topics to the left...
Add and modify map frames—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop
then they have some tutorials builtin to the help as well
Make a layout—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop
(you can just search help with the keyword …. tutorials …. to get a complete, unorganized listing)
Ok, thanks for your help. Although now my feature are not scaling properly. Not a big fan of layout in Pro, seems a bit cumbersome
