Hi all,
I'm totally new to ArcGIS so apologies if any aspect of this or any other post are silly.
Basically, I'm trying to create a simple interactive map of fatal accidents across the UK over a certain period of time. I know locations, dates, time, victim details, injuries, circumstances relating to about 1,000 accidents.
I need a map that shows locations of all deaths. Then a simple popup will provide further details once you click on the location. I also need users to be able to do basic filtering and searches - show only male victims, in a given county, in a given year or period of time, that kind of thing. I am aiming for something similar to this: https://medievalmurdermap.co.uk/maps/london/
I would like something very simple and as quick and easy to create as possible.
The first question I think I need to answer is - AC Pro or AC Online? Secondly, for filtering and queries would I need separate software or would ArcGIS cover this aspect? Thirdly, how much time do I need for basic setup? Is it hours or days? I have about a month to complete this project. I never used any map software but have experience with image editing and databases.
I will be extremely grateful for any advice, comments etc.
Tom
Looks like you are looking to make a dashboard: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/dashboards/latest/get-started/what-is-a-dashboard.htm
It's part of ArcGIS Online and doesn't require any additional software. You'd set up your data and pop-ups in a web map first and then use that map to create the dashboard. Once you get the hang of it dashboards are usually pretty quick and easy to set up. Hope this helps!
Thank you very much for this! Yes, it looks that I will be going down that road. Seems fairly straightforward.
