ArcGIS Pro cacheproblems

Sometimes in a project ArcGIS Pro seems to not want to change a status of a layer even though cirkumstances have changed. I did the mistake of opening up a projekt that depends on files residing on a server I currently did not have access to. So I got an exclamation mark on that layer... I closed the project again (and did not save it). I connected to the server with the files missing and started the project again...but exclamation mark remained. I tried all different methods for clearing cache that I found on this forum...no luck. I uninstalled ArcGISPro, made sure there were no ESRI folders left and reinstalled it...but still no luck.

But I did notice, that when I started up the program again after reinstall it STILL remembers my earlier projects...how is this possible? And is there way to actually get a clean install?

Also, about this layer that refuses to understand that it now got access to the files it needs...is there some better way to accomplish this?

Did you try repairing the data source? I understand the location of the data has not changed, but maybe going through these steps will reconnect the layers in Pro to the source of the data on your server.

Thanx but I´ve found a workaround so that´s ok. But I am still curious how the program still remembers so much about my previous projects after reinstall...if I had not found a workaround it would have been difficult. I have access to the data but I do not have access to the drive where the data is located.
