Over the past few weeks/months, I’ve been running into an issue where ArcGIS Pro won’t close when I try to exit. Nothing happens, it can sit there for an hour and nothing. If I click around, my bottom taskbar disappears, leaving a small solid black rectangular box on the screen. The only way I’ve been able to fully close it is through Task Manager.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I have found clicking close would cause pro to freeze, but If i click on project > exit pro does not freeze. I am however having lots of other freezing issues since upgrading from 3.5 to 3.6, like when closing a map window, or navigating in the catalog view. Currently doing a fresh install.
Another thing to try is change the rendering engine to DirectX (Project>Options>Display>Rendering Engine). Does this change the performance on close?
I've also been experiencing this and today it's especially sensitive to crashing. I've found that working on map layouts and changing layer symbology will trigger crashes. But the main issue is the same, not closing properly and I almost always have to force close it using task manager. I tried the soft reset too.
updated to 3.5.6 last week have have been also experiencing exactly what you describe.
