With regards to the align edge tool in ArcGIS Pro 3.1

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/3.1/help/editing/align-topology-edges.htm

We are aligning polygons in our planning controls layers to polygons in our cadastral parcel layer. Both these layers are in a geodatabse topology

We have an issue with our workflow and the symbology that is generated in PRO compared to what we were previously seeing with ArcMap. We are frequently aligning very small gaps such as in the example below. When using ArcMap a single thin dotted purple line appears as shown here. This makes it still very easy to see our underlying symbology and differentiate the edges we want to align

When using Pro all topology polygon edges are highlighted with thick purple lines (see below) making it impossible to differentiate which edge belongs to which dataset visually to decide which edge to hover over. The resultant yellow lines are also very thick

Is there a way to adjust the symbology of the highlighted edges when this tool is used or make it similar in appearance to how it worked in ArcMap

Hi Darren,

In ArcGIS Pro, you can adjust the symbology of highlighted edges in topology by customizing the display settings. Follow these steps to adjust the symbology:

Access the Topology pane:

Open the Topology pane by navigating to the "Edit" tab on the ribbon, then click on "Topologies" in the "Geoprocessing" group.

Modify Topology Layer Properties:

In the Topology pane, right-click on the topology layer you're working with.

Select "Properties" from the context menu to open the Layer Properties pane.

Adjust Symbology:

In the Layer Properties pane, go to the "Appearance" tab.

Under "Symbolization", you can adjust the symbology settings for the highlighted edges. This may include changing the line color, thickness, transparency, etc.

Apply Changes:

Once you've adjusted the symbology settings to your preference, click "OK" to apply the changes.

By customizing the symbology settings for highlighted edges in the Topology Layer Properties, you can make it easier to differentiate between edges belonging to different datasets visually, similar to how it worked in ArcMap. Adjusting the symbology can help improve the clarity and visibility of the topology edges while editing in ArcGIS Pro.

I hope that helps.

Have a good day.

Martin

@DarrenGreen2 do you have a Reference Scale applied on your map?

Thanks @DarrenGreen2 for your response. I wanted to make sure you are not running into BUG-000161850  where those purple topology graph lines appear quite thick if a small reference scale is applied on the map.

The ability to adjust topology graph and related symbology is not supported yet in ArcGIS Pro but something we are looking into for a future release. For now, you can help by upvoting the following related ideas being tracked by the team;

User-Defined Topology Color in Editing Tools

Your feedback is appreciated.
