Summary of the Problem
In ArcMap, it was possible to rotate labels dynamically using a numeric field (e.g., ) via the “Rotation” setting in the label properties. This allowed precise control over label orientation for nautical charts, engineering diagrams, and other use cases requiring per-feature rotation.
In ArcGIS Pro, this functionality is no longer available. The Label Class interface only offers orientation options relative to geometry or graticules (e.g., horizontal, parallel, perpendicular), but does not allow rotation based on a user-defined field. The tag is also ignored in dynamic labeling, and the “Rotation” option is absent from the Labeling ribbon and class properties.
This limitation breaks workflows that rely on precise angular control, especially in professional cartography and automation contexts.
🙏 Feature Request
Please reintroduce the ability to rotate labels based on a numeric field, as was available in ArcMap. Ideally, this would appear in the Label Class > Position tab as a “Rotation from field” option, allowing users to select a numeric attribute (e.g., ORIENT) to drive label rotation.
This would restore a critical capability for advanced labeling workflows and support migration from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro without loss of functionality.

You can find the Rotation field option under the Rotation expander. It is available for point features - the same as in ArcMap
