BLUF: Please add the option to output the actual paths "traveled" for OD Matrix, not just straight lines, or no lines.
Context: we were asked to develop a process to identify critical roads for maintenance and improvement going from hotels in a country to the various tourism destinations nearby. We wanted to count the number of times each segment was traversed, and then find the optimal bundle of roads to be improved by multiplying the travel time saved by a road improvement times the number of times that segment would be traversed. Ordinarily we would do this using an OD Matrix (Network Analyst), but while we could modify the network and rerun to get the simulated improvements, we couldn't weight by the number of times each segment was traversed because the actual travel path is not an output of the OD matrix. As a result, we couldn't use ESRI products and had to shift everything to GOSTNets to actually do the work.
Request: As the recent collapse of the Key bridge will attest, knowing multiple ways to get from Os to Ds is important. The path distance, the path time, and the path itself are important. Please update the Network Analyst tool suite according. Please add "Network paths" as an output to OD matrix output Geometry.
Additional applications: OD matrix information is critical for planning Education and healthcare access, the movement of goods, patient movement (Healthcare), referral access (Healthcare), Movement of Prisoners (Law enforcement), warehouse allocation, etc.
