Feathered Label Masks

I would really like to see a label mask setting that looks like the old ArcIMS style of featherd fading outline of labels. I have not foud a way to reproduce this look for labels without going through a lot of steps. It should be a simple option check in the label mask setting. Check box - Feather Label Mask.

Yes, or just support transparent masks. Nontransparent masks are horrid.
