Hello, we are publishing our new Parcel Fabric.

In the 'Share As Web Layer' pane, we have the settings under the 'General' tab ('Details', 'Data and Layer Type', Location', and 'Share With') good to go in accordance with the documentation for Publish the parcel fabric as a feature service .

We would like to ensure that our settings in the 'Configuration' tab are all in line with how the Parcel Fabric requires them.  Specifically, the 'Operations' and 'Properties' options under 'Configuration'-->'Layers'-->'Feature'.

The documentation provides an image showing the deselection of only 'Enable Sync', 'Export Data' and 'Apply default to features with z-values'.  Are these deselections by design?

  • Operations
    • Enable editing and allow editors to:
      • Add, update, and delete features
      • Update features only
      • Add features only
    • Enable Sync
    • Export Data
  • Properties
    • Allow geometry updates
      • Allow update of true curves
        • Only allow true curves updates by true curve clients
    • Apply default to features with z-values
      • Default z-value when inserting or updating features [enter value]
    • Allow geometry updates without m-value
    • Include topology layer

We published ours according to the same settings and have experienced no issues with it.

I suspect that the z-value settings are this way because the parcel fabric has the potential for being 3D, such as with condo units. Auto-assigning an attribute that is normally legally defined seems like a bad idea, in my opinion.

For syncing, that is related to branch versioning, rather than the parcel fabric itself. See this page for more information. We don't use that capability, so I don't have any insights on its actual use.

Exporting data, as far as I can tell, is just a personal choice as to whether or not you want users to be able to export.

Thanks for the link to the Sync related doc.  Your input pretty much sealed it...we will go with the same settings as you and publish with what the Parcels Team has in their doc.
