WAB app freezes

Hi,

Has anyone noticed random freezes recently on WAB apps?

Since a week or so, our AGOL WAB app seem to freeze, apparently only under MS Edge Version 124.0.2478.51, quite randomly. Most of the users are impacted, some still go through without any issue. I cannot seem to identify what is the issue, nothing has changed in the app. It seems to be linked to Edge more so. So far no issue in Chrome or Firefox.

It freezes when validating the splashscreen, or accessing layer list widgets. You can try it yourself if you're curious (WARNING: this might freeze the whole tab). The tab then starts to have a high CPU usage for 30sec+ before being usable again.

Any thought? Thank you.

Hi @AnLizeGCC

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue with Microsoft Edge.

We are aware of this and advise you to use an alternative browser where this issue is not present. If you need to use Edge there are instructions on how to rollback a version of the browser, I have pasted them below:

How to roll back Microsoft Edge to a previous version

Thank you for your answer @DanielFox1 .

Good to know that this is under your radar. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Hi @AnLizeGCC

The pdf you have linked to your splash screen uses http if this was changed to https do you still notice an issue with using your WAB in Microsoft Edge?

Thanks for pointing that out, I updated the link.

But no, this does not change anything. As @StephenNeal1 wrote, this disappear apparently if reverting to a previous version of Edge. Version which is controlled by IT for us. And we cannot instruct members of the public to downgrade their Edge version.

@AnLizeGCC

I completely understand. I would recommend raising a support ticket with your distributor so that it can be investigated further

I raised a case with our distributor. We'll see how it evolves. Thanks

Great to know that the cause has been identified, but I'm not sure I would consider it 'solved'.  I can't really go tell all the citizens within our district or region to use a different browser or roll back their browser version!

We are also experiencing this same problem at BC Hydro.

We are experiencing this exact problem - seems to be most prevalent with polygonal layers.
Rolling back the version of edge works to prove that it is the version of edge. Not so easy for 1000+ users.
