Is there a workflow to upload KMZs into ArcGIS Online as Feature Layers - without using desktop ArcGIS?

I think this used to be an option for some other file types during upload. There are non-GIS specialists in my org who frequently use KMZs and it would be super convenient if the upload process automatically allowed for feature layer creation, rather than going through desktop ArcGIS every time.

See this blog article: Add KML to your ArcGIS Online maps.

If you really need a feature layer, then Pro can be used or you can export a shapefile from Google Earth and then publish the feature layer from the shapefile.

Other KML to shapefile converters can be found on the web...

Thanks! I've shared this resource, but I also agree with @atedavaricious that the functionality would be very helpful for our non-GIS experts who are heavy KMZ users. It would also help the GIS team keep the data in our org tidy.

In my organization, non-GIS experts routinely utilize KMZs, thus it would be highly practical if feature layer development could be done automatically upon upload rather than having to launch desktop ArcGIS each time.  drift hunters
