Updating Data effects only some fields

Hi,

I am attempting to update a feature layer through the "Update Data" function. I have verified that the input shapefile is formatted exactly the same as feature layer I am attempting to update. The majority of data is updated, however, there are a few fields where no data is updated. I have attempted to do the same through ArcGIS Pro's "Append" tool. I receive the same result, the same fields do not update with the input data.

Can anyone let me know where I should begin trying to update the data?

what is the field type that isn't being updated? (text, integer, double, date? other?)

It's a text field. However, many of the fields that have updated are text fields as well.

I have solved this issue by creating lists, and then inserting a separate feature layer's data through FME. I did this as creating the domains still didn't fix this issue when using the "Update Data" function.
