Unable to invite member to arcgis online organisation

I am unable to invite a member to the organisation, there is an apostrophe in his email address, has anyone had this issue? If so is there a way around it?

Have you tried Invite and add members—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS   the option "without sending an email"?  I'm not sure if that will let you bypass that issue or not.

Mark,

The user name must contain 6 to 128 alphanumeric characters. You can also use the following special characters: . (dot), _ (underscore), and @ (at sign). Other special characters, nonalphanumeric characters, and spaces are not allowed. The user name cannot be the same as the password. Once you send the invitation, the user name cannot be changed by you or the member.
