Road Labels Suddenly Broken in MapViewer

Recently, I was going through one of my Experiences and saw that my road labels were really funny looking.

Some of them were missing letters randomly and north/south roads that were longitudinal had two labels each, with the labels facing different directions. If the label is set to "Center Along" for Placement, it results in a jumbled mess. See screenshots. Notice in the second screenshot, when I set placement to Appear Above, that there are two labels for each north/south road segment. It is only assigning two labels for absolutely vertical roads, or close to it. (90 degrees to the equator)

I now see that this is suddenly affecting all of our products with labels that were configured in MapViewer. (really just roads).labelsglitch-mapviewer.pnglabelsglitch-mapviewer.pnglabelsglitch-mapviewer2.pnglabelsglitch-mapviewer2.png

There have been no recent updates that we have pushed to the hosted feature layer for Roads, so we believe that something has changed in AGOL to cause this.

Please help or escalate.

I received a call this morning and we are still seeing the issue on our online maps

We have fixed the duplicating labels issue and we are working on the dropped characters at certain scales right now if that's the one you are referencing. If you have a map or screenshot to share that will help.

OK, I will wait for the dropped characters fix. Sorry.

Changing the font size I was able to produce the map they wanted with the labels..just a little smaller 🙂

No worries, just an update on this - we are narrowing it down so no fix yet but getting close to the root of the cause and hopefully get a patch out ASAP
