Positioning service required to save web map

For the last few months, whenever anyone in our org tries to save a web map, it will often give a "Failed to save map" error stating "Missing value for required property: positioningService." We do have some IPS data services, so we will typically just add one into the map because the map will not be used in an environment where it would make any difference, but honestly it is a little annoying and I don't feel like this should be happening.

Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe there is some option that I am missing in the map that makes this required? I'm inclined to say there is not, because often times if I add a service then immediately remove it, the map is then able to be saved, however if I leave the map and come back to it later and try to save again, the same error will appear again.

Hi @MollyE , Thanks for bringing this up! We’ve identified this as a defect where an assigned ArcGIS IPS license prevents Web maps from saving correctly. We understand that users should be able to save Web maps, with or without the Indoor Position Data Service enabled. We are aware of the behavior, and it is fixed in the upcoming Q1 release.
