I noticed since the most recent update of ArcGIS Online, the "Media Map" web application template no longer successfully displays custom point symbology. Symbols are converted to black dots.
Example:
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/Media/index.html?appid=29cdb2e613314bc987b857abd6e7c600
Symbols should appear like this:
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/StoryMapBasic/index.html?appid=5cc709cdfabf49d886bcf3e64343c481
This was not the case throughout all of 2019; the "Media Map" template had no issue displaying custom point symbology exactly how it appears in a web map. What gives?
Also, I've noticed other map panels within other AGOL templates (like the new ArcGIS StoryMaps) also fail to show custom point symbology correctly.

Hi Mark,
When I looked at the symbols in the examples that you provided I was seeing the same football icons being used. Is there a different symbol that I should be seeing in the StoryMap Basic example? Here is what I am seeing:
Media Map:
StoryMap Basic:
Thanks!
Sarah

Looks like the Media Map template is now showing the symbols correctly - back-end magic must have occurred?
Great, thanks!
