Hi all,

Is Template Management still available in Map Viewer Classic? I know it's deprecated, but feature parity has not been achieved. I'm unable to create a template in Map Viewer or Field Maps Designer. I can duplicate just fine, but creating is not possible. I used to return to Map Viewer Classic when I needed this functionality, now it doesn't appear to be available.

Hi @BlakeMorrison

Yep,  templates are saved to the layer, not the map. So any changes you make to templates will carry over into all the maps with that layer. This article has some tips for the new template manager experience in Map Viewer that might be helpful: Optimize Editing with Templates in Map Viewer

I'm confused now. Should I have separate layers for the same data if I'm using that data in two different web maps? That way I can have templates for each web map? Am I misunderstanding?

How do I have the same layer in two web maps, with different symbology and different templates if the templates are linked to the layer and will bring their changes to each web map?

Hi @BlakeMorrison

In order to have 1 layer with separate sets of templates, you can create a hosted feature layer 'view.' Then configure things like templates, styles, pop-ups, and more separately on the view layer.

That way you still have only 1 layer to maintain, but you have different options for its use.
