Hello,

About a month ago I uploaded a kml and created a web map and they worked perfectly. Now, I can neither view the we bmap nor the kml in ArcGIS.com. After a long pause I get the following error:

"The KML, Access to Rails 2010, is not available or cannot be added to the map."

I tried uploading a new kml and can't see that one either. I can download the kml so I know the data is intact.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Can you share the URL to the KML you're having trouble with?

Thanks,

Mike

I went to check the URL and it's back! It was gone all last week. I know because I spent hours reconstructing it 1 shapefile at a time.

I tried adding this KML from this URL:
http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/Imagery_Updates/imagery_updates.kml

and it does not display in web viewer. It does, however, show up 3 times in the ToC.
I made a web map and shared it at http://bit.ly/yxhDN1

thanks.

Clem,

I think the reason why it doesn??t work in arcgis online is because the file has several recursive link references.

The file:
http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/Imagery_Updates/imagery_updates.kml
internally references:
http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/Imagery_Updates/latest_update.kml
which also references:
http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/Imagery_Updates/01-11-2012_Imagery_Update.kmz

You can put the last one in arcgis online and it works. I think this is a limitation, but we'll have to investigate further.

Thanks,

Mike

hi,

tried it again today with the last KML URL but it did not work for me.

http://mw1.google.com/mw-earth-vectordb/Imagery_Updates/01-11-2012_Imagery_Update.kmz

it generates a error box and says it encountered an error while loading. Maybe to large?

thanks.

which web browser are you using? I tried it in Chrome, and it seemed to work.

I'm not sure why it's not working in IE9. I do see the data from the KML coming back to the browser for drawing, but it may be that there are too many features to draw and IE9 isn't able to draw them. I've written up a report so that we can investigate this further.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi there,

Since I have a KML related question.. I hope it's okay if I ask my question in this thread.

When I tried add  this one specific KML layer from the web, I receive the following error message: The KML, http://wdssii.nssl.noaa.gov/realtime/nws_warnings.kmz, cannot be added to the map. Anerror occurred during loading.

Any tips on how to go about it?

Thank you!
