Hello,
I hope I'm posting in the right section.
I'm new to ArcGIS online and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if what I want to do is even possible with the platform. Basically, I have a historical map as a KML file(made by map warper), that I want to put as a layer on a ArcGIS map, to then use as the base map in Storymaps. The thing is, the process of adding a layer takes a lot of memory, and my computers(I tried on different machines to make sure), and when the layer is added, it is very laggy and buggy. I tried different ways to host the kml, with cloud drives and with the content section on the website, and neither really worked. The closest I got was with google drive, but I had to wait 10 minutes just to save the map, and it was even worse when I tried to import it in story maps.
Here is the link to a version of the file I was trying.

The KML works totally fine in Google earth, so at least I know the file isn't corrupted or anything.
Am I doing something wrong? Is what I am trying to do even possible or am I wasting my time?
Thanks a lot!
There are limits to using kml. Did you go over the link

perhaps removing some of the unsupported elements or simplifying the kml might work.
Also, the file size limit will prevent them being loaded in the first place
