The 1st link is pretty much what I was looking for, but the 2nd link does not work for me?
As for the info in the 1st link, that does the trick, but accessing that section of help from the 'help' dropdown in the viewer requires 4-5 mouse-clicks even when I know where I'm going. If I click on 'About using Web Maps' in the overview section where you are directed from the help button, the 1st thing I see is about sharing web maps. The general user I am thinking about wouldn't even understand what sharing web maps means.
Again referring back to the "my mom as a user" example, navigating that help menu just to learn the basics of using the map is a bit much and might be a deterrent. It could be useful if there were a direct link from the viewer to that page or similar called "how to use this map". Just a thought as I know some people give up easily and are better off spoon-fed. All that said, we're finding ArcGIS Online to be a great tool. Thanks for your time to respond.
