Dynamic Legend Widget

Was this widget meant to work with ArcGIS online hosted layers? I have both the original and the dynamic legends in my application. Original shows my online layer, dynamic does not.

Are you writing custom code to add a legend to an application? If so which api are you using (Flex, Silverlight, JavaScript)? Can you provide a code snippet?

Thanks for responding - no coding, only utilizing the legend widgets with an ArcGIS online hosted layer.  Here's the layer I'm working with:
