Why did they change the arcgis onle web app template for creating an elevation profiles?

In the old app you could select on a polyline such as a hiking trail, and get an elevation profile for that trail. Now the elevation profile app generates an elevation profile for a measeded line, but does not allow selection of a polyline in a map.

Does anyone know why the web app was changed?

Does anyone have the code for the old version of the map or an app template that allows selection of a polyline in a map?

The Elevation Profile app hasn't been changed. You are still able to select a line to display the elevation profile for that line.

There are a few caveats to this that are noted on the Elevation Profile instructions panel. The feature needs to be in a Feature Layer or be part of a map service that has Popups enabled and multi-part lines are not supported.

I'm having the same problem. I add a polyline as a zipped shapefile to my map. I configure and enable popups. I save and share with everyone. So far so good. When I create a Web mapping application and chose the Elevation profile template I can click on my polyline and the elevation profile works fine. However, if I download the application and serve up the map from my own web server and then click on my polyline I cannot see the profile. I can still generate a profile using the measure tool though.

Any suggestions?

Kevin,

I'm guessing you need to set up the proxy as described in the readme file.

Thanks,

Mike
