Change in relative rendering?

I created a Global Scene for use by my students where earthquakes were rendered inside the planet based on their depth attribute. The first image below is from an instructional video I'd made for them. This was accomplished by setting the Elevation Mode to Relative to Ground.

In going through to ensure the web app was still working (I have made no changes), it no longer renders the locations inside the planet based on depth. As a matter of fact, changing Elevation Mode now seems to have no effect whatsoever.

Is there any word on what could have happened here?

Hard to see in a static image, but in the image above the earthquakes increase in depth and dive into the planet moving to the right (toward blue) which you could see by moving the viewer (shown in an explanatory video about halfway through https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_BvxLSJOG8QLwtdfuYR1SflNNl-M5wUA/view). In the image below, all the earthquakes are rendered at the planet surface.
