Hi I have ArcGIS 10.8. I have 2 datasets, one is a nest location. The other is many telemetry points from a bird associated with that nest. I want to calculate distances from all the telemetry points to the nest. I have tried the Point-Distance tool but I cannot get it to work. I made 2 test datasets, each with 5 datapoints. The first is 5 telemetry location, the second is 5 rows containing the nest location. All points are in decimal degrees, projected. Suggestions will be gratefully accepted!
start with Spatial Join (Analysis)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation
then look at Generate Near Table (Analysis)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation
maybe even Generate Origin-Destination Links (Analysis)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation
that should get you started to think about your data and form it needs to be in
Thanks, Dan, although I don't have ArcGIS Pro. I have just created excel files after converting data to UTM and I can calculate the distances that way. But I will check out the links you provided as well.
