Adding secure services as items not working

The process as described in this blog: How To: Add Secure ArcGIS Server Services as Items in ArcGIS Online does not seem to be available anymore. Furthermore, our existing items that reference secure services no longer work. Is there a problem here, or has something changed in the last day or so?

What exactly about that process isn't working for you? I was able to follow that process in the blog you listed and it worked fine for me.

If your secured services are no longer working in AGOL, then that would indicate an underlying problem with the ArcGIS Server the secured services are coming from. Or possibly the credentials that were used to secure the service with were changed and need to be updated in the service.

Interesting - thanks for your reply. My issue is that when adding a new item that points to a secure service there's no option to enter and store credentials.

However AGOL knows it's a secure service needing credentials as when I hit the next button I get prompted for them:

But credentials do not get stored.

As I mentioned, existing items (of which we have many) that do store credentials (and have worked fine for several years) no longer work for me either - as of today as far I'm aware....

Something most likely changed on the server that is hosting those secured services. You might need to work with your GIS Server Admin and/or IT department and verify if anything has changed with the ArcGIS Server.

Here is a support article that lists some of the reasons why that store credentials option is missing. https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/the-option-to-store-credentials-is-not-available-when-...

Thanks for the heads up - I'll have a look into that. The ArcGIS Server did get an update last week - but worked fine following the update. It's always possible something has changed in our environment....

The biggest thought I had is that the SSL certificate expired or something. Which would explain why it suddenly stopped working today. But otherwise, I'm not sure what it could be right off.

Even stranger is that I'm not able to make a minor change to our existing items (such as change the waiting time) and save:

That's odd. Are you able to access the service in an AGOL web map? Like after it asks you to enter your credentials when adding it to a map, does it load any data?

Yes - the data loads fine directly into an AGOL web map. I also double checked the security settings - there's no web tier security involved - it's all at the ArcGIS Server level.

Hmm, that's odd. I'm not sure what could cause it to suddenly stop working then. Especially if nothing has changed with the server between yesterday and today. Someone else might have some ideas, otherwise it might be something for Esri support to look into.
