Hi All,
Hopefully this isn't something I've just missed!
It seems the default view for pop-ups is alphabetical rather than attribute order. To me it makes more sense to have the default order as attribute order - I'm sure most people creating features apply a logical approach to table design - and having to completely reorganise the pop-up is frustrating. Can the default order be changed to attribute order? Thanks,
Jamie
I agree this should absolutely be the default behavior. Not sure if this workaround has been mentioned.
In the Pop-ups config pane Go to Fields List>>Select Fields
Click Select All.
The field order is then honored.
While this is an easy workaround, it is a convoluted way of producing expected behavior. When designing table shemas, there is usually a logical order of the fields to avoid having to configure display every time you use a dataset through various means.
@mpboyle Thanks for documenting that, I understand your comments now. I am in agreement and will seek more info.
Somewhere along the way the alpha-sort field ordering in online popups is a new thing, popups used to display information in original field order, no matter the source. Now I'm trying to publish a survey123 field app and alpha-sort looks like this where the ProjectName field is buried and Date and Time are separated:
and the related record popups look like this where the order of events is convoluted, Date and Inspection Trigger should be first:
This is what the project info SHOULD look like:
Alpha-sorted field lists are convenient when we're working behind the scenes with Arcade or some such, but NOT AS DEFAULT FOR POPUPS.
We take great care is designing our feature classes/services/survey123 forms so that the attribute order make sense to everyone and now it's getting wrecked by the default alpha-sort! Please make it stop!
