I have a few ArcGIS Notebooks set up in ArcGIS Online. I didn't realize until last week that you could only have 5 tasks set up in total across your Notebooks? (Seems like a seriously low limit, but I digress)

That said, I went through and removed some Tasks off Notebooks I don't actually use, and have found I have 2 Tasks between 2 Notebooks. And then 2 Notebooks that I swear did have Tasks that don't show up in the Notebook view now, but when I look at the Tasks in Item Details it shows the below as if there is a Task, but it doesn't actually show it.

I'm trying to schedule a new Task on a new Notebook and it won't let me. Is it cached weird that I have 5 still? How do I go about resolving this issue?

Hi @RobertAnderson3,

Thank you for reporting this! We identified the cause of some tasks not getting returned and fixed the issue with the October 2023 update of ArcGIS Online. Would you please check if the two tasks are now getting displayed?

In addition, we added a "manage tasks" experience on the ArcGIS Notebooks home page that allows you to manage all notebook tasks accessible to you. We hope this new experience can help you quickly check notebook tasks 😀

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you!

Hi Lingtao,

We have just come across the 5 task limit on our notebooks and just wondered if there is anyway to increase the limit? We have some power users that need to schedule numerous tasks and this limit is preventing them from doing so. It seems odd to put such a low limit on this when the majority of our users won't be using notebooks at all but the ones that do are restricted in this way. If this could be reviewed it would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Anthony

@xlt208 I can only echo what Anthony says. This seems like an incredibly small limit

Is it worth making an increased limit an ArcGIS Ideas suggestion or is it something that;s actively being looked at?

I didn't find an Idea in the Community looking just now, you could always create one, but there is an enhancement request open for this change.

Hi @RobertAnderson3, thanks for the info. I can't find anything on that enhancement. Is it one you were directed to after raising a ticket with support? Thanks

Yeah it was one Support attached to my organization, I may have stumbled upon it somewhere on the Community but I don't remember.

I really wish they had a repository somewhere of all the bugs and enhancements..

Hi @RobertAnderson3@RichardHowe, and @AnthonyJonesRSK,

Thank you for the feedback. Increasing the maximum number of running notebook tasks is something we are looking to address in the near future.

If not already, please attach your account(s) to ENH-000154768. You can do so by opening a technical support case and requesting to be attached to the enhancement. You will then receive notifications when the status of the enhancement changes.

Thank you!
