Hi everyone, I am from Esri Australia. We are currently deploying monitor 2023 to a client's environment. We notice in the installation document that the agent cannot be installed on the same machine as the server. Looks like this is different to the old monitor where administrator can be installed on the same machine as the server, if my understanding is correct.
I want to confirm if this means we will need to have one additional machine in the environment to install the agent? Currently we only have one single machine for hosting both the monitor server and administrator. Thanks for your help in advance!

You don´t need an Agent, as ArcGIS Monitor can collect the information from the system it is running on:
When a single data center contains the entire enterprise GIS implementation, you can deploy Monitor by installing Monitor Server. In this deployment scenario, Monitor Server monitors all registered components and provides data reporting and analysis.

It is not necessary install both ArcGIS Monitor Administrator and Agent on the same machine, so it is not possible to install both.
If one component is installed running the installer will detect the installation and offer you to Modify or remove the installation:
When you go to Modify, the option for the Agent is visible, but it is only possible to select one feature:

Hi @FrankOuyang
i mean the agent is necessary, when you wanna monitor Esri environment in different networks. This is the reason of this special deployment of Server and Agent.
Cheers,
Max
Thanks @MaxBöcke
Thanks for the reply @SimonSchütte_ct and this is exactly the clarification I need. Thanks!
Hi Frank,
Echoing what Simon and Max have said: when you install ArcGIS Monitor 2023, you get ArcGIS Monitor Server and an ArcGIS Monitor Agent by default. You can see the agent after install in the application if you go to Monitoring > Agents.
With this in mind, if the components you want to monitor all exist inside of the same network environment, no further installation is needed. You can simply register these components with the Monitor's default agent. Only when you want to monitor components in more than one network environment is when it becomes necessary to install additional agents on separate machines.
I hope this clears things up. Let me know if you have additional questions.
Best,
Josh
Thanks for the explaination Josh. I think it answers my qeustion very well! Really appreciate it.
Hello,
Part of the requirements is that both applications be installed on separate computers. If its necessary (have different networks) maybe you can separate the current server features to distribute it and then add more resources if needed in the future.
Requirements.
* For ArcGIS Monitor Server, a minimum of 2 CPU cores and 2 GB of RAM are required.
* For ArcGIS Monitor Agent, a minimum of 1 CPU core and 1 GB of RAM are required.
Regards.
